Disaster Relief

Disaster Relief Fund

Our Disaster Relief Fund helps residents and communities in West Tennessee during natural disasters, such as tornadoes and flooding. The fund is activated when these devastating events impact our friends and neighbors and allow local agencies and individuals to direct donations for support.

Your gift will provide both immediate relief and support recovery efforts long-term. Community Foundation leadership work closely with governments and local agencies to distribute funds to those who need it most.

Fund History

The Disaster Relief Fund was established in response to the EF-4 tornado that hit Madison County in January 1999. Alongside the community, we helped those who lost their homes through fundraising efforts.

How It Works

A Quick Response

The Disaster Relief Fund allows the Community Foundation to take quick action in response to local needs during disasters. The fund is a place where donations can be directed for those looking to support the community in recovery whether in response to immediate relief or long-term recovery efforts.

The Community Foundation is a partner of West Tennessee VOAD (Volunteer Organizations Against Disaster) and stays connected with agencies and leaders on the ground to assess and plan for funds to be distributed.
