3 Ways You Can Use Giving Tuesday to Kick Off Year-End Giving

It’s that time of year when most of us feel extra goodwill toward our fellow man, and we want to help our neighbors in need. The Community Foundation allows you to support a wide range of programs here in West Tennessee. From housing and food insecurity to literacy and education support, we connect donors with the causes that matter to them.

With Giving Tuesday falling between Thanksgiving and Christmas, it serves as the perfect kick off to year-end giving. Here are 3 ways you can take advantage of this global day of generosity:

1. Make a Donation to 100 Women Who Care: West Tennessee

With 2025 right around the corner, it is the perfect time to make your annual contribution and become a member of 100 Women Who Care. This program is centered around empowering women to get involved in their community. From participating in philanthropy to learning about local nonprofits, this group unites women to use the power of collective giving and make an impact in our region.

Current Giving Levels
Member - $100 annually – 1 vote
Friend - $250 annually -2 votes
Advocate - $500 annually – 3 votes
Champion - $1,000 annually – 4 votes
Business sponsorships for the annual event are available at two levels: $500 and $1,500.

2. Give Now and Give Later

Perhaps you need to make a larger contribution to offset this year’s predicted tax liability. Establishing a donor advised fund allows you to make a charitable contribution in this tax year while recommending the distributions to qualified charities at a future date.

P.S. - Gifts to the Community Foundation are tax deductible, and any gift made by December 31, 2024, may be claimed on your 2024 tax return. The Community Foundation is able to receive gifts of highly appreciated stock allowing donors to maximize the value of their donation while benefitting the fund of their choice. Please consult your tax advisor for the best ways to apply charitable gifts to your return.

Contact Beth Koffman at beth@cfwtn.org or (731) 984-2144 to make your year-end gift now.

3. The Perfect Gift

We all have someone on our list for whom it can be difficult to shop. A gift to the Community Foundation fund of your choice in honor or memory of someone special is always the correct size. The honoree will receive a card notifying them of the gift in their honor. Make your gift in honor of a friend or love one on our website or mail a check to our office (74 Directors Row, Jackson, TN 38305).

No matter when you choose to make a year-end gift, please know how much your donation means to the Community Foundation. Your support allows us to continue our mission of strengthening the health and well-being of the communities we serve.
