Community Foundation of West Tennessee hosted a kickoff event for its 40th anniversary on Tuesday, March 25, 2025, at the New Southern Hotel in downtown Jackson. This occasion marks the beginning of a year-long celebration to highlight the organization’s history, impact and future.

“Celebrating our 40th anniversary is a significant milestone, and we are so grateful to each of our donors and partners for being a part of our journey and supporting our work in the community,” said Dr. Frank McMeen, President of the Community Foundation. “Throughout my 27 years with the Community Foundation, I have witnessed our growth and seen firsthand the impact of our work."

The Community Foundation was established in 1985 to strengthen the health and well-being of the region by serving as a catalyst for positive changes in the arts, education, healthcare, and other causes. Throughout the last four decades, the nonprofit has received over $116 million in contributions from donors and invested more than $78 million into the community through grants, scholarships, and assistance.

“One thing that is amazing is to me is that as the Community Foundation has grown each year so has the amount of money we have invested into the community,” said Jeb Campbell, Chair/Board of Trustees for the Community Foundation. “This is a testament to the trust donors have in us and to our continued commitment to make West Tennessee a better place to call home.”

During the event, the organization premiered a special anniversary video featuring staff, board members, donors, partners, and key historical moments. In addition to the video, the Community Foundation distributed a Pinnacle Piece for guests to take with them.

“This event and the commemorative pieces we showcased tonight reflect the extraordinary generosity of our donors and partners. Their support has been instrumental in our success, and we're honored to share these stories,” said Beth Koffman, Chief Operating Officer for the Community Foundation. “Building upon our rich history, we look forward to the next 40 years of serving our friends and neighbors.”

Over the next year, the Community Foundation plans to celebrate the anniversary through content on social media and at its events, including its annual Community Impact Grant awards in June and the 34th Annual Charity Gala on November 8, 2025.
